Choosing the best place Feeling overwhelmed on Monday last week, I needed prayer ASAP. Everything had been building up over the last 3 weeks, the stress, worrying about everyone, running about everywhere and feeling I wasn’t getting anything done , I was at breaking point and in all honesty and sincerity, that’s how I felt. Let me tell you , being a Pastor is not easy. Worst thing you could say to a Pastor is “ you only work one day a week” Please don’t think I’m looking for sympathy. I am being open this morning and in being open I learned something of great value and significance that I can pass on to the Church this morning. I went and got prayed for and just laid on the carpet of the living room in tears. “ Lord I pray that you would speak to Pastor Jimmie’s heart right now” Please choose people of prayer and passion to be open with, get yourself into a place of humility and the Lord responds!!! That was all that was needed in that prayer for to Jesus responded instantly. All I heard was ““Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. 42 But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her” I knew this story well and knew straight away what Jesus was saying to me…. Luke 10:38-42 38 Now it happened as they went that He entered a certain village; and a certain woman named Martha welcomed Him into her house. 39 And she had a sister called Mary, who also sat at Jesus’[a] feet and heard His word. 40 But Martha was distracted with much serving, and she approached Him and said, “Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Therefore tell her to help me.” 41 And Jesus[b] answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. 42 But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.” There was nothing wrong with what Martha was doing, it was her attitude that was wrong, she was coming from a place of stress and anxiety, she wasn’t enjoying (obviously serving Jesus) because she was complaining about it. Philippians 2:14 “Do everything without complaining or arguing” How can we be in the presence of Jesus and moan?? Jesus would have probably encouraged Martha if she served with all humility. It’s not everyday that the King of Kings comes to your house!! Jesus wasn’t having a go at her, just letting her know the attitude of her heart!! Now lets focus on the attitude of another heart.; Mary’s ……… And she had a sister called Mary, who also sat at Jesus’[a] feet and heard His word. 42 But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.” The Message 38-40 As they continued their travel, Jesus entered a village. A woman by the name of Martha welcomed him and made him feel quite at home. She had a sister, Mary, who sat before the Master, hanging on every word he said. But Martha was pulled away by all she had to do in the kitchen. Later, she stepped in, interrupting them. “Master, don’t you care that my sister has abandoned the kitchen to me? Tell her to lend me a hand.” 41-42 The Master said, “Martha, dear Martha, you’re fussing far too much and getting yourself worked up over nothing. One thing only...
