Encounter Church Elim Mission Statement:
Our desire as a church is to reflect and expose, the amazing nature, heart and character of Jesus and to be relevant in our community.
In John 14:1-11 Jesus is telling his disciples that he is going away; he will prepare a place for them in heaven come back for them and they would know how to get there.
Thomas answered “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?”
Thomas didn’t understand what Jesus was on about (Jesus was talking about his death, resurrection and going to be his Father in heaven and that they would be going to)
Jesus explained that he was the only way to the Father. He represented the ‘way’, he was ‘truth’ in essence and he was ‘life’ itself. Everything that we seek and long for in life….he is!
“Show us the father? “Philip asked, we want to see him. What is he like? What is his heart like?
I’ve been with you for a long time Jesus said, the time that I’ve spent with you, the Father has revealed himself to you through myself , his heart, nature and character that you seen every day. The people that I healed, loved, showed mercy to, transformed, gave purpose and meaning too, new starts, forgiveness and peace. That was my father! We are the same Philip, he lives through me and I live through him, we are identical. His heart is for this broken world, he wants to heal and save it and he sent his heart through me!
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
Our desire in Encounter Church is to reflect and expose the amazing nature, heart and character of Jesus, so people can understand and see what the very heart of God looks like, how much he loves us and how he longs for everyone to have a relationship with him.
Also we want to be relevant in our community. Jesus is the same and never changes, but society does. We want to communicate Jesus in a way that our community can see that Church is not a dull and boring institute, but an exciting place to be, where Jesus is still relevant today and a place where the very heart of God is.
